The Opportunity
It is incumbent on cross-functional teams to build up knowledge from the ground up, and, to the best of their ability, only progress pieces of work that have the best chance of having real customer impact. You don't want to have done all the research, but then follow a certain path because of cognitive bias or the "we've spent so much on this already, we can't stop" death spiral. In this Lightning Learning session, we'll discuss how to approach evidence collection linked to assumptions we make so as to derisk decisions as much as possible.
The Why
Digital landscapes are only getting more competitive, so cross-functional teams need to be armed with tools and mental models that ensure they are continually delivering value against unmet customer needs. Conducting smart experiments against assumptions will not only galvanise your team, but give them a voice in when it comes to strategy development. The closer your team is to customers, the more sway you can have inside your organisation.
The Everest Offering
We're on a mission to equip product professionals with the tools they need to be the best they can be at work, while ensuring they have fun on their journey. This is the Everest way, after all! In this course, you will be exposed to a body of theory, which you will apply against preset scenarios, and build a new body of knowledge as your team shares their experience throughout.
What You Will Learn
- The difference between testing assumptions versus ideas
- The importance of comparing and contrasting ideas against one another
- Defining success criteria upfront
- Building tests around what people do - not what they say they'll do
- Approaching tests that look at more than one assumption at a time
